Don recalls, “Howard Small knew how to do everything. He was a complete handyman and jack-of-all-trades. He was very soft-spoken and very polite to my wife and children. He would help me a lot when I had to move from one location in town to another. Mr. Hogan would let us have the truck, and Howard would help us move. He was such an extremely generous man.”

JACQUE: Howard and Daddy had a wonderful, close relationship. And Howard helped raise my kids. He would be working in the yard or around the house and he would hear one of my kids crying or something, and he could beat me to them. Howard was like a gentle giant. They weren’t many people like him.
